Dani Pedrosa dominates FP2 at Indianapolis

The second MotoGP free practice at Indianapolis saw the track temperature rise from this morning’s 23°C to 44°C and with more rubber laid down lap times dropped sensibly from the previous session but the gap between Dani Pedrosa and almost the rest of the field – except for Ben Spies who was the closest to him – were huge.

The Repsol Honda rider dominated the entire practice and was the first to go under the 1.
40 barrier and he continued to better himself on hard tires and posted his best time in 1.
39.
783 on his penultimate lap.

Spies was the second fastest rider and he was almost three tenths adrift, while Jorge Lorenzo moved up to third but he was 0.
719s from Pedrosa and he is still lacking a constant race pace.
Andrea Dovizioso moved up to 4th after finishing earlier in 11th and he was just 0.
058s from the Yamaha factory rider.
After being the fastest rider this morning Casey Stoner ended up 5th and more than eight tenths off pace and the last rider to be within a second from Pedrosa and he also had a big moment with his rear tire.

Satellite riders Cal Crutchlow, Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl were 6th, 7th and 8th respectively, while Nicky Hayden dropped down to 9th and Ducati team mate was 10th.
Following his highside during FP1, Hector Barbera who was making a return to action after breaking his leg 26 days ago was shipped off to the Methodist Hospital and scans revealed that he sustained fractures to his 5th, 6th and 8th dorsal vertebrae and fortunately are not threatening, and Toni Elias who was on standby will now be taking his place for the rest of the weekend and he finished the session in 17th.
The fastest CRT rider was Randy de Puniet in 11th and he was four tenths slower than Rossi and a half a second faster than Karel Abraham on the satellite Ducati.
Wild card rider Steve Rapp did not take part in this session because his Attack Performance CRT Kawasaki had some technical issues.
