Valentino Rossi still considering shoulder operation

The open mikes of Sky Sport 24 may have picked up Valentino Rossi confessing to Giacomo Agostini that he’s in a lot pain and he’s going to have shoulder surgery at the end of season, but the Italian in yesterday’s pre-event press conference at Aragon, appeared to be still considering whether or not to undergo surgery.

Rossi, who injured his right shoulder in a motocross accident April 15th, revealed that he had two days of severe pain after the Misano GP and that painkillers seems to make the situation even worse.
The 9 times World Champion has been trying to build up the muscle to compensate the damaged ligaments and tendons, but at the moment he has only 40% strength and can’t raise his arm more than 90°.

The surgery has been recommended, but Rossi wants to use the next six races as a test to better evaluate his shoulder problems especially in the three consecutive races in Japan, Malaysia and Australia, being the most critical.
Recovery from this type of shoulder injury after surgery is estimated to be around two months.
