Dani Pedrosa Pumps Repsol Gas

Four days after putting in a great performance in the`Spanish GP at the circuit of Jerez Dani Pedrosa, the Repsol rider, went to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for a promotional event organised by the Spanish multinational oil company.

The aim was to spend some time with his fans there who because of their geographical isolation have some difficulties in seeing the World Motorcycling Championship in the flesh.

On this occasion Pedrosa got a warm reception from the people on the island, and they all enjoyed the relaxed, casual atmosphere.

After giving a press conference in the morning to the local papers at the Terraza Sotavento Club on the Muelle Deportivo de Las Palmas, Pedrosa went to a Repsol service station close to the Centro Comercial Atlántico in the town of Vecindario, where surprised clients found the three times World Champion refilling their cars.
The sight attracted about a hundred fans, who enjoyed seeing the Repsol rider in person.
Dani did not waste a second and signed autographs and posed for photographs with all the fans present.
Immediately afterwards the Repsol rider went to the nearby shopping centre to watch the final of a video game competition organised by Repsol in Gran Canaria.

The best two participants competed in the grand final and received hints about how to ride from Dani Pedrosa.
Then the Repsol Honda Team rider spoke to many of the fans who had gathered there, he signed posters, caps, T-shirts and photographs.
Some even surprised Dani by asking him to sign photographs taken a few minutes earlier at the service station.
“This is the first time I have been to the Canary Islands, I had not been able to come here before.
A few years ago, when I began racing, I almost came here for a race but in the end it did not work out.
I am very grateful to the fans and the local press for their warm reception, I know that there is a lot of interest in racing here, and we have been been given a great welcome.
It was great fun refilling cars at the service station; the truth is that the public was very surprised.
It is a pity that we did not have any more time to spend here because I do not know the area and I would like to get to know it better.
Perhaps I can do so another time coming back as a tourist.
