New Disney+ and Hulu releases for October 2026 and 2027 park plans

As Halloween approaches, Disney’s two flagship streaming platforms—Disney+ and Hulu—are loading their libraries with a mix of fresh series, beloved classics and live-event broadcasts. The schedule, released by the company this week, aims to satisfy horror aficionados, music lovers and sports enthusiasts alike, while also teasing the massive theme-park expansions slated for 2027.

For subscribers, the month offers a tidy bundle of podcasts, movies and original shows, each chosen to keep the autumn evenings entertaining.

October 2026 streaming lineup on Disney+ and Hulu

The headline act for Disney+ is the premiere of VisionQuest Marvel Television’s new limited series starring Paul Bettany and James Spader, which drops on October 14.

The show follows the titular hero’s psychic odyssey and promises a blend of superhero drama and psychological thriller. Hulu, meanwhile, pushes its horror credentials with the return of American Horror Story: 13 delivering three new episodes on the night of October 1.

Fans can also tune into the companion American Horror Story Official Podcast for behind-the-scenes commentary.

Classic cinema receives a generous push as well. Hulu’s library adds the full Die Hard franchise—”Die Hard” (1988), “Die Hard 2” (1990) and “Die Hard with a Vengeance” (1995)—plus the 2007 installment “Live Free or Die Hard.” Horror staples such as “Ghostbusters” (1984), its 2016 reboot, and Tim Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands” (1990) also re-appear, while family-friendly titles like “Hotel Transylvania” (2012) and its sequel join the roster. For sitcom fans, Hulu rolls out the second season of “Scrubs” with a two-episode launch, and Disney+ debuts the second season of the preschool hit Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+.

Live events, music festivals and sport specials

Music lovers will appreciate the three-day live stream of the Austin City Limits Music Festival beginning October 2. The event showcases eight stages across Zilker Park, featuring a blend of legendary acts and emerging talent, all streamed simultaneously on both platforms. Sports fans are not left out: the Banana Bowl—the championship showdown of the Banana Ball league—aires live on Disney+ on October 10, promising a spectacle that blends high-energy baseball with theatrical fanfare. Additionally, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Season 35 returns for live Tuesday night broadcasts on Disney+, with full-episode re-runs landing on Hulu the following day.

Disney World’s 2027 expansion roadmap

Beyond the streaming calendar, Disney World has unveiled a comprehensive blueprint for its 2027 growth. Highlights include Monstropolis a new land at Hollywood Studios that transforms the iconic Monsters, Inc. door factory into an indoor theater show starring Mike and Sulley, plus a suspended roller coaster that weaves through the factory’s vault. Magic Kingdom will welcome Villains Land a dark realm dedicated to Disney’s most infamous antagonists, featuring a Maleficent-themed coaster and a multi-scene dark ride that spotlights classic villains.

Animal Kingdom’s long-awaited Tropical Americas is set to open with three attractions: “Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto,” a family-friendly indoor dark ride set inside the Madrigal house from Encanto“Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent,” a high-speed thrill coaster repurposing the former DINOSAUR layout; and “El Carrusel de los Animalitos,” a whimsical carousel featuring Disney animal characters. Meanwhile, the iconic Carousel of Progress undergoes a narrative update, adding a new Walt Disney audio-animatronic figure and modernizing each era portrayed.

The resort’s infrastructure is also getting a boost. A new Lakeside Lodge, named Branch & Brush will open near Magic Kingdom, offering handcrafted cocktails with views of Bay Lake. Disney is expanding its complimentary airport luggage-transfer service to include JetBlue flights, further streamlining guest logistics. Finally, Disney announced the creation of more than 5,000 jobs over the next five years—positions that will be filled as the new attractions and resort spaces come to life.
