Excitement builds as young motocross stars gear up for their Arenacross debut in Aberdeen.

In an exciting turn of events, 12-year-old twins Jay and Aston Hearle from Aberdeen are set to make their debut at this year’s Arenacross event at P&J Live. Just a year after attending the event as enthusiastic fans, the twins have been selected as wildcards for the motocross competition, marking a significant milestone in their budding motocross careers.

From fans to competitors

The twins’ journey into the world of motocross began last year when their uncle, Marcus Mitchell, took them to the Arenacross exhibition. The experience ignited a passion for biking that has since transformed their lives. “They’d already been into bikes when they were younger, but I think last year really blew them away,” Marcus shared.

Inspired by the thrilling races and stunning stunts, the twins made a promise to return as competitors, a dream that has now become a reality.

Training hard for the big day

Since last year’s event, Jay and Aston have dedicated themselves to rigorous training, both on and off the track. They have taken up boxing to enhance their fitness levels, demonstrating their commitment to the sport. “We’ve worked really hard, both on the track and off,” Aston stated. The twins have also learned the ins and outs of bike maintenance, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead. Their father, however, might not be thrilled about the financial implications of their newfound passion, as Jay humorously noted, “I think our Dad might be a bit annoyed with Uncle Marcus because it’s definitely not cheap!”

Support from family and friends

The support from their family and friends has been overwhelming. Many of their schoolmates are excited to watch the event via livestream, showcasing the community’s enthusiasm for the twins’ journey. Their uncle, Marcus, expressed pride in their achievements, stating, “I couldn’t believe it when they told me they had got the wildcard for this.” He believes that the competitive spirit between the twins will drive them to perform well, saying, “They’re competitive, particularly between each other as twins.”

A thrilling family event

The Arenacross event promises to be a spectacular show for families, featuring a mix of races, freestyle motocross, and breathtaking stunts. Event organizer Matt Bates emphasized the unique atmosphere of the venue, stating, “It’s a brilliant family performance with freestyle motocross, stunts, pyrotechnics, and so much more.” With talented stunt riders like Dan Whitby and Arran Powley set to perform, attendees can expect an unforgettable experience.

Looking ahead

As the twins prepare for their first race, their mother, Naomi Mitchell, hopes this opportunity will ignite their competitive spirit. “I’m hoping that this will give them the push to get into the competitive side of things,” she said. With the support of their family and the excitement of the crowd, Jay and Aston are ready to take on the challenge. “It’s a hometown crowd, so they will be getting cheered on regardless,” Marcus reassured them. No matter the outcome, the twins are sure to leave the arena with smiles on their faces, ready for whatever comes next in their motocross journey.
