The Connacht Hotel (Q.R.) Handicap: A Battle of Wills
The feature event of the day, the Connacht Hotel (Q.R.) Handicap was won by Comfort Zone ridden by Derek O’Connor and trained by Joseph O’Brien. The seven-year-old, carrying the colors of J.P. McManus pulled off a remarkable victory at 18/1 odds, showcasing a battling spirit that left the crowd in awe.

The bay daughter of Saxon Warrior had previously won a Listed race at Naas in June and carried that momentum into her Galway performance.
The runner-up spot in this race went to Expert Dancer ridden by Sam Coen and trained by Andy Slattery. Motta Alta ridden by Shane Foley and trained by Jessica Harrington completed the top three, adding another layer of intrigue to the day’s results.
Witches Familiar Shines in the Novice Hurdle
The opening race of the festival, the Galmont Hotel & Galway Bay Hotel Novice Hurdle lived up to its billing as a showcase of emerging talent. Witches Familiar, a French import, had previously won a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe in May, and her Galway victory solidified her status as a rising star. The runner-up spot went to Mino Des Mottes trained by Gordon Elliot and ridden by Jack Kennedy while Arouet ridden by Daniel King completed the trifecta for French-bred horses.

Aidan Melia‘s Timurshah a son of Mastercraftsman added another chapter to his success story with a hat-trick of wins. Ridden by Conor Smithers the five-year-old secured a six-and-a-half length victory in the Easyfix Iggy Daly Handicap Hurdle.
Timurshah’s previous wins at Clonmel and Sligo set the stage for his Galway triumph, demonstrating his consistency and skill. The runner-up spot went to Whats New ridden by Darragh O’Keeffe while Soldante ridden by Eoghan Finegan completed the top three.
Trean’s Impressive Debut
Trean in the colors of the Red Lily Racing Syndicate made a strong impression in the Eventus Irish EBF (C&G) Maiden. Trained by Billy Lee and ridden by Paddy Twomey Trean ran out a four-and-three-quarter length victor, showcasing his potential as a future star.
Trean’s victory was particularly notable given his disappointing tenth-place finish behind Abraham Lincoln in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Weekend at The Curragh. The juvenile son of Bayside Boy from Ballylinch Stud demonstrated his resilience and determination, scooting clear prior to the final bend to secure his win.
The runner-up spot went to City Of Gold ridden by Wayne Lordan and trained by Aidan O’Brien while HMAS Perth another Aidan O’Brien inmate, completed the top three. The favorite, One Number handled by Joseph O’Brien disappointed with a fifth-place finish.
