Harestone Uplift: A Champion Emerges
Harestone Uplift, expertly presented by stockman Eoin Cumming, is a product of the esteemed Goldies Oasis, a bull that has consistently sired top-priced bulls at previous Stirling events. Uplift’s lineage includes the notable Harestone Lyres, a daughter of the renowned Inverlochy Ferdie, a past reserve champion.
Judge John MacGregor praised Uplift as “pure class,” highlighting his suitability for today’s commercial market. The overall quality of bulls at this event made the judging process a rewarding experience.
Thrunton Ullapool and Senior Champions
Following closely was Thrunton Ullapool, who claimed the reserve overall spot. The competition was fierce, particularly in the senior section, where Harestone Umpire emerged as the overall senior champion. Umpire is a product of the home-bred Harestone Lynx, further solidifying the Barclay family’s reputation in the industry. The reserve senior champion, Thrunton Uranus, also showcased the quality of the Campbell family’s herd.
Simmental Success at Stirling
In a remarkable display of Simmental cattle, the Green family from Corskie triumphed, winning both the junior and reserve overall championship awards. Their champion, Corskie Pirate, is a 17-month-old bull that exemplifies the quality of their herd, which includes 180 pedigree cows. The Greens’ dedication to breeding excellence was evident in their success at this prestigious event.
Hemingford Prince Charming Takes the Title
Another notable champion was Hemingford Prince Charming, a 21-month-old bull from the husband-and-wife team of James and Rachael Griffin. This victory marked their first overall championship win at Stirling. Judge Jim Goldie commended Prince Charming for his modern appearance and excellent movement, further enhancing the event’s competitive spirit.
Backmuir Poseidon Leads the Senior Section
In the senior section, Backmuir Poseidon stood out as a 21-month-old bull from Reece and Andrew Simmers. His impressive lineage includes the home-bred Backmuir King, who has already made a name for himself at the Royal Highland Show. The quality of bulls presented at the Stirling Bull Sales reflects the dedication and hard work of breeders across the region.
Auchorachan Picasso: A Rising Star
Completing the list of impressive bulls was Auchorachan Picasso, a promising young bull from Michael Durno. Picasso, born in August 2023, is a son of the successful Auchorachan Malt, showcasing the potential for future success in the show ring.
