The event unfolded near the Harbour Lights bar in January of the previous year, when officers approached Korzov’s vehicle, a black Vauxhall Mokka, prompting him to accelerate away in a bid to escape.

According to fiscal depute Stephanie Cardo, Korzov’s actions were immediate and reckless. As soon as the police identified themselves, he “started the engine and accelerated away,” ignoring their requests to stop. It was revealed that Korzov was not the registered keeper of the vehicle at the time of the incident, raising further questions about his responsibility and decision-making.

Korzov’s driving record is far from clean. In 2022, he was previously banned from driving for over a year due to serious vehicle safety issues, including faulty brakes and worn-out tires. Despite these warnings, he was caught driving at an alarming speed of 104 mph on the A90 near Foveran. However, Sheriff Annella Cowan was not lenient in her judgment. She emphasized that Korzov would not receive any leniency for his late admission of guilt, resulting in a £400 fine for failing to comply with police instructions and an additional £500 fine for driving with a disqualified license. Furthermore, he has been handed a new driving ban of 15 months.
