When you’re looking for work, it’s a good idea to spread your search as wide as possible.

There are many places to look and there’s lots of help available.
Job adverts turn up in all sorts of places. Newspapers and trade magazines are a good place to start, and many vacancies can be found online. You can search to find a job to fit your skills in your area.

You can also use local job market information to find where the biggest number of vacancies are, or where there are jobs in your field.

If you haven’t looked for work recently, it can take a while to get up to speed.

There are tips and techniques to help you. Don’t forget, many people get work through friends or family, so make sure everybody knows you are looking. It can be hard work, so you need to be persistent.

Recruitment agencies can take the hard work out of job searching, especially if you have skills people are looking for. Find out which agencies would work best for you: some of them specialise in specific types of work.

Recruitment websites, employment agencies and local papers are just a few of the places you can look for vacancies. If you cast your net wide and use as many sources as possible you’ll usually get the best results.
