WSBK Misano: Max Biaggi Runs Away with Race 2

Max Biaggi took another win in Race 2 at Misano, his fourth double of the season (Portimao, Monza, Miller and now Misano) and after breaking away from the rest of field on lap ten, imposing an almost impossible rhythm for the rest of field taking a seven second lead before slowing down on the final lap to win by four seconds.

Leon Haslam turned around his fortunes in Race 2 after his 8th spot in Race1, the Brit held off several riders who were fighting for a podium to take second and was ahead of Fabrizio by 0.
4o9s.
The third spot on the podium went to Michel Fabrizio, who despite a well deserved podium after taking the spot from Cal Crutchlow at the “Quercia” on the penultimate lap, did a ’sour grapes’ interview at the parc ferme, stating that the bike that won is a MotoGP and the rest are Superbikes and that rules have to be changed.

Carlos Checa took fifth after Troy Corser, who was battling with the Althea Ducati rider on the last lap ran off track and would have to settle for a very disappointing 10th place, after leading race 2 for almost 10 laps.

Alstare Suzuki’s Sylvain Guintoli finished in sixth having his best weekend so far.
Seventh went to Shane Byrne followed by another two Ducati riders, Luca Scassa on the privateer Supersonic and Ducati Xerox’s Noriyuki Haga .
James Toseland crashed out on the 11th lap and according to the commentators, who keep track this sort of stats, this is his 17th crash of the season between practices and races and if Toseland was unlucky, Jakub Smrz was even unluckier, the Czech rider didn’t complete the first lap in race 1 and race 2 went exactly the same way, his Ducati suffering from technical issues.
Biaggi now holds a 37-point lead over Haslam, with Checa in third with 172 points.
