What to see in Rome: Caravaggio's Madonna of The Pilgrims

Next time you are in Rome you should visit the Church of Sant’Agostino which is not too far from one of the most famous places in Rome: Piazza Navona.
This Renaissance Church, though now half-forgotten, is a real jewel in the crown.

One has just to step inside to know why.

The first time I went there I was just boy of 15.
I remember walking down the aisle and getting a glimpse of an old painting gleaming in the dim-lit church like a mysterious jewel.

I soon found out it was the Madonna of the Pilgrims by Caravaggio, one of the great Italian Renaissance Masters.
I was deeply moved by it.
Such beauty can’t leave one indifferent after all.
Opening hours: 7:00 am -1:00 pm; 4:30 pm-7:30 pm; on Sundays from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
