Miss World Italy 2008 finalists

After the announcement of Claudia Ferraris winning the Miss Universe Italy contest, Miss World Italy is also coming into its final round, which will take place on June 7 at Gallipoli: 52 finalists will be judged by television and print journalists.

As per the Miss Universe contest, an Italian has never won the Miss World competition, but registered a second place in 2000 with the lovely Giorgia Palmas.

The contest is the historic rival of Miss Universe, starting in England in 1951 and with generally more than 100 countries participating.

During the 80’s it went through a rough patch, risking closure after lack of sponsors, but it has since got its shine back.
Current Miss World is Zhang Zilin (photos here) from China, while the Italian representative from 2007 is Giada Wiltshire.
