Mark Hoppus, the bassist and vocalist with pop-punk band Blink-182, has been diagnosed with cancer. On a Twitter post he reported:
For the past three months I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy. It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get through this. I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can’t wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future. Love to you all.
Besides the terrible news, from his words we can at least see that he’s keeping a positive mood.
The Blink-182 band formed in the mid 1990. It all started with Hoppus, the vocalist-guitarist Tom DeLonge and the drummer Scott Rayner. Later on, in 1997, they launched their debut album ‘Dude Ranch‘. The next release was ‘Enema of the State‘ in 1999 which also won a Platinum Record Award. The latter is pop-punk album which sees Rayner replaced by Travis Barker.
After all these years of creating music together, the band becomes a family. Therefore, all of his bandmates, current and past, are showing support for Hoppus. DeLonge, which has been replaced by Matt Skiba in 2015, says:
He is strong, and a super-human who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart.
We hope all the best for Mark Hoppus and all of his fans are waiting him for a concert as soon as he recovers from cancer.
