Lockdown rules in northern England: indoor meetings banned

The new lockdown restrictions in northern England relates to Greater Manchester, as well as a number of places in East Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

In some parts of northern England, authorities implemented lockdown restrictions last night, in particular an indoor meetings ban. Rules comprehend five million people following new outbreaks of Covid. The official guideline will not be published until late on Thursday night. Under these new rules, Britons will be unable to mix in private homes but still visit pubs and restaurants as long they go with their own household.

The restrictions forbid different households to visit each other in private homes and gardens in Greater Manchesters, East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire. Not only that, they can’t meet indoors in parts of northern England. This is due to the government is tightening the lockdown again.

Gardens metting are prohibited but you can encounter other households in parks and outdoor spaces. But in most hitted areas, you can not meet or socialize with other people in an indoor public venue.

Based on the Department of Health, indoor public venues include pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, places of worship, community centers, leisure and entertainment venues, or visitor attractions. But you can visit those places with the same households while avoiding interactions with others.

Restrictions in northern England

Health Secretary, Matt Hancock claimed: “We take this action with a heavy heart but unfortunately it’s necessary because we’ve seen that households meeting up and a lack of social distancing is one of the causes of this rising rate of coronavirus and we’ll do whatever is necessary to keep the country safe”. He added: “We have been looking at the data and unfortunately we’ve seen across parts of northern England an increase in the number of cases of Covid-19. We’ve decided that we need to take action across Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire”. In the past days Johnson declared that a second wave is feared.

The new restrictions relates to Greater Manchester, as well as a number of places in East Lancashire – Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle and Rossendale. In West Yorkshire, Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale are affected.

The Department of Health claimed it is possible to attend a mosque or other place or worship which are Covid-19 secure but social distancing must be observed. Despite lockdown, weddings and civil partnership ceremonies in the areas can still be celebrated if there are no more than 30 guests, social distancing measures.
