Although the government is trying hard, it is still falling short of meeting its target of 100,000 jabs per day.

Londoners are gathering in huge numbers to go for a vaccination in the fight against the pandemic sweeping the world at the moment.

Londoners rush to get their vaccination done

After it was decided by the government that people over 40, who have taken their first jab needn’t wait for 12 weeks to take the second one, many decided to take advantage of the new rule and take it at eight weeks instead.

Also queuing up are first-timers above the age of 18, who would very much like to say goodbye to the restrictions imposed by the government due to the pandemic and get back to normalcy.

Now that the Greenwich council has declared that appointment, immigration status or NHS number are no longer required to get vaccinated, clinics and vaccination centres are expected to see a surge in numbers.

What are the vaccination numbers saying?

Although the government is trying hard, it is still falling short of meeting its target of 100,000 jabs per day. The demand for the vaccine is higher than the supply and unless that changes it would take more time to vaccinate the whole adult populace within the expected time.

What are the experts saying about vaccination?

Danny Thorpe, the leader and most senior member of Greenwich council thinks,

It’s now time to open the floodgates and pour vaccines into London. What this increasingly shows is that far from being a city of hesitancy, as we move into younger age groups, Londoners now want to see the back of Covid. The Government should be looking at this and saying now is the time to surge the vaccines into London and increase the supply of Pfizer and Moderna and rock this for the next four weeks.”
