Wayne Couzens, a police officer who raped and killed Sarah Everard, imposed a whole life prison order by judges. A 48 years-old man kidnapped Ms Everard as she walked in south London. Then he posed as an undercover police officer and got her.
After he handcuffed a 33-year-old woman, they went to a remote location in Kent.
There, she was raped and killed. Then Couzens burned her body and dumped her in a woodland pond.
Lord Justice Fulford stated that Ms Everard’s life and the pain of her family and friends must not be forgotten. Also, he ensured that Couzens had planned well in advance.
The judge said Couzens had eroded confidence in police forces and very considerably continued to the sense of insecurity.

The judge said to Cozens, “You have completely betrayed your family”. Then added that Cozens’ family and friends will now have to live with the disgrace of your terrible crimes.
Barrister Jim Sturman QC on Thursday morning, speaking for Couzens, mentioned he is “ashamed by what he has done”. Mr Sturman also continued Couzens’ family and friends are completely wavered at what he caused.
