How to buy a mattress

Consider mattress firmness
When we think of luxury, we think of beds soft as clouds. Nothing can be more destructive to your back and neck than a mattress which is too soft. When buying a mattress, ensure that the mattress is firm enough to support you while you sleep.

A softer option may feel better during a trial in-store, but will leave you with back and neck pain when you wake up in the morning.

Don’t leave the store without a 30-day trial period
Mattress buying is far more an art than a science.

The only surefire way to get the right mattress is to actually try it out overnight. Unless you have got the keys to the mattress store, the only way to do that is to ensure that whatever mattress you buy has a 30-day money-back trial period. Avoid purchasing a mattress without one.

Avoid extra warranties
Some mattress stores will try to coerce you into paying more for warranties longer than ten years. You should be purchasing a new mattress once a decade or even more frequently. So, avoid paying more for years of warranty you will never use.

Do not be afraid to spend
When you buy a mattress from a reputable dealer, you get what you pay for. A mattress is a significant investment, and some of the price tags might make your eyes pop. This does not mean that you should buy the cheapest mattress available. Doing so is to sacrifice quality. Stay within your budget, but spring for the best mattress you can afford. You may save money in the short term by getting the cheapest one. However, over the next ten years, you will regret it.
