Max Biaggi on pole position at Brno

Superpole at Brno was the usual exciting affair that World Superbikes offers.
In Superpole 1 the fastest rider was Marco Melandri on the new softer version of the Pirelli race tire putting in a best lap 1′59.
379 that put him on the top of the chart followed by Carlos Checa and Brno home boy Jakub Smrz.

Max Biaggi had a big moment but managed to save it and ended up in 4th.

During SP1 Aprilia Alitalia rider Leon Camier crashed out, but managed to return to track for the final minute of the session and mounting one of the two special Superpole qualifying tires and went all out and took 7th.
Not making the cut into SP2 were Leon Haslam (wife Olivia is expecting their first child) , Noriyuki Haga, Lorenzo Lanzi, Matteo Baiocco.
Superpole 2 saw Carlos Checa finish on top with 1.

930 lap and the first rider to break the 1.
59 barrier as did Tom Sykes with a hot last lap.
Michel Fabrizio managed to enter SP3 in the dying seconds with his last qualifying tire and grab 6th.
Ayrton Badovini, Sylvain Guintoli, Mark Aitchinson (who happens to speak an excellent Italian), Maxime Berger, were the four riders that didn’t make into SP3.

The last stint to decide who would be poleman depended all on who still had a set of qualifying tires to use and Max Biaggi had saved one of them for SP3 and the reigning World Champion’s was a man on mission to prove that Brno is still his circuit and a blazing 1.

580 lap proved it, grabbing his second Superpole of the season, but it still wasn’t fast enough to break Cal Crutchlow’s 2010 Superpole record.
Marco Melandri took second following the Roman Emperor and Carlos Checa was third, closing the front row will be Yamaha’s Eugene Laverty.
Jakub Smrz heads the second row with Michel Fabrizio, Leon Camier who used up both qualifiers in the previous stints more or less rode around this last Superpole session, but managed to move up a spot to seventh, leaving Tom Sykes to raise the only green flag for Kawasaki in eighth.
