Switzerland is story book perfect in the winter time, the Alps, skiing, hot chocolate or something a little more alcoholic to warm you up, but it isn’t the ideal spot to start doing some outside training for the upcoming MotoGP season, especially if your name is Dani Pedrosa and you’ve been constantly battling an array of injuries.
Pedrosa who resides in Switzerland (for tax purposes) is spending a couple of weeks training on the warm Spanish island of Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands located off the coast of Africa trying to strengthen the shoulder he injured in the incident with the late Marco Simoncelli during the Le Mans GP.
Staying at the Hotel Princesa Yaiza at Playa Blanca, Pedrosa is dividing his days between jogging, riding his bicycle and training in the gym under the supervision of personal trainer SebastiĆ” Salas Paus who is also the physiotherapist of the Spanish handball team who is also in Lanzarote preparing for an international tournament.
The Spanish rider signed some autographs and also talked to journalists explaining why he comes to Lanzarote to train.
“In Geneva it is very cold and difficult to train out in the open.
So I decided to come here, like the Nordics, to start my preparation ahead of the new season, said Pedrosa also adding, “The first days of training I have to be careful because my joints are stiff so I take advantage of the sun.
” and he also said is feeling “good” and has “good feelings” following an improvement not only from his injuries, but also his mood.
Asked about his new RC213V Pedrosa said, “As we have not started testing we can’t see how our competitors bikes are and it’s hard to say more.
In addition, the tires have changed and we have to see if this change suits our bike.
So there are many unknowns and we can say right now.
I understand that many people are intrigued and want to know, and so do we, but we don’t know what will happen until the racing begins.
