After winning the 2012 MX1 world title in his home race in Faenza, Italy, a few weeks back – meaning he’s now a six times World Champion – Motocross legend Tony Cairoli went to Teutschenthal, Germany, to finish off his triumphant season and there can be no doubt he did that in spectacular fashion.

The Italian won both races on the day of his 27th birthday in spite of the pain in the little finger of his right hand, due to a little accident which occured during Saturday’s qualifying.

In Teutschenthal Cairoli just left everyone behind, including local hero and favorite Ken Roczen, who finished the event in second place to the delight of the home crowd.
Cairoli is now ready to take on the awesome Motocross of Nations, which will begin next Sunday in Lommel, Belgium, a track that the KTM rider just loves.
Here’s what the man of the hour had to say last Sunday: “I’m totally happy with this victory, I could not ask for more.

I won seven races in a row and I am satisfied, especially because after winning the world championship in Faenza it would have been quite easy to lose a little concentration.

Instead I’ve been training well and I came here here thinking I could do well from the begininng, and in the end I was able to win both races.
Yesterday I’ve got a problem with the little finger which gave me a little discomfort in the first few laps, but after that everything went on quite well.
”“It’s nice we are done with the championship – he added – and now I am going to get ready for Lommel, for the MX Nations.
I think Italy can finish on the podium.
I like the track a lot, I want to do well in the two races and I think my team-mates can do well too.
I am confident.
” Here’s our little tribute to the mighty Cairoli, a massive photo gallery picturing some of the coolest moments of the weekend.
The Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations will take place this coming sunday, while the UEM MX of European Nations is scheduled for the 14th of October in Kiew, Ukraine.
