KTM Sportmotorcycle AG announces that last year the Austrian brand has achieved the highest sales and turnover in the company’s history.
In 2012 KTM sold 107,142 bikes worldwide, more than 8,000 of which were 200 Dukes sold on the Indian market by local partner and stakeholder Bajaj: this represents an increase in sales of 32% in comparison to the previous year and a turnover of more than 610 million Euros in business year 2012.
Despite a still declining motorcycle market – especially in Europe – this increase in sales results in a strong gain of market shares.
Although the market in Europe went down by more than 12% in 2012, the Mattighofen-based manufacturer managed to increase its market share by approximately 33%, which results in a market share of 7.
5% of the total European market.
In the United States, where the market experienced a slight growth (+1.
2%), KTM enjoyed an improvment not only in terms of market share but also sales and turnover, both of which went up by an impressive 25%.
“The positive market development in Asia, where sales could be increased more than tenfold, contributes considerably to the company’s success” pointed out Stefan Pierer, CEO of the Austrian house, who is obviously delighted with this bunch of extremely positive figures.
With a slew of new models that will invade the market worldwide this year, it seems like things are definitely going fine for the KTM: we wouldn’t be too surprised if in January 2014 we will have to comment another record breaking year for the Austrian brand.
