Chaz Davies finally got a chance to test his BMW machine yesterday in a two-day private test session at Jerez de la Frontera under the banner of BMW Motorrad Italia – which has now become BMW’s official World Superbike team after the German manufacturer decided to to downsize their factory team and support Andrea Buzzoni’s squad.

For Davies it was his first taste of the BMW S1000RR, while for team mate Marco Melandri it was a chance to get to know the BMW Motorrad Italia/Feel Racing staff (Melandri’s pit crew remains the same as before).

No lap times were released at the test was heavily hampered by mixed weather conditions, but Davies did Tweet: “Good 1st impressions on the BMW in Jerez.
Damp patches this morning and now raining so not ideal but good 2 ride again!” BMW will be joining the rest of the rest of teams at the end of November for another test, always at Jerez.
The Andalusian circuit will be hosting the final round of the 2013 WSBK calendar on October 20th.
