The second MotoGP free practice at Misano, was more or less the same as this morning, a washout, as it was damp, windy very slippery and with a few drops of raining falling occasionally, and again only a few riders decided to go out and test the tricky conditions using both wet and slick tires (MotoGP does not have intermediate tires and they can’t cut them), while top riders like Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa sat out the session and spent the time talking, in Lorenzo’s case with Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read, while Pedrosa and Shuhei Nakamoto conferred about something on the Vice-President’s smartphone.
Of the riders who did venture out only 11 recorded laps times, and the fastest rider was Karel Abraham with his Ducati GP12 Sat Zero who posted a best time of 1’42″030, before it started raining more copiously in the final ten minutes of the practice.
Following the Ducati rider was James Ellison, Michele Pirro, Yonny Hernandez who suffered a harmless crash at the beginning of the session at the Variante del Parco.
Jonathan Rea’s MotoGP debut in MotoGP is being hampered by the weather but he nonetheless went out this afternoon for a few laps before returning to the Repsol Honda garage.
Danilo Petrucci in his second session with the BMW-Suter was 6th, while David Salom continued familiarizing himself with his CRT.
