Andrea Dovizioso to undergo plate removal surgery

Andrea Dovizioso has decided to put off the removal of a plate from his shoulder until early next month.
The new Ducati rider has been very busy since the end of the MotoGP season, he was at the EICMA show for two days, then took part in the motocross charity event Ride for Life at Faenza (to raise funds to help research and cure spinal injuries – also present were Marco Melandri, Michele Pirro, Eddi LaMarra).

This past weekend he was driving at the Monza Rally Show – he finished 5th overall – and from the 28th to the 20th he’ll be at Jerez starting Wednesday for Ducati’s private test (with Andrea Iannone, Nicky Hayden and test rider Michele Pirro) and then will take part in SuperSic Supermoto event this upcoming weekend.

Dovizioso, as many may remember fractured his right collarbone in two places during a motorcorss training incident last January and had to have a plate inserted and usually riders after a year of carrying around metal need to have it removed, so the Italian will take advantage of the testing ban (December 1st to January 15th) to do the surgery and then rehabilitation.

The next official test for MotoGP riders will be from February 5th to 7th at Sepang.
