The BMW Motorrad GoldBet SBK Team has carried out two days of private testing at the “Motorland Aragon” circuit, in Spain, where riders Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies have worked mainly on the chassis of their BMW S 1000 RR.
Despite the rather difficult weather conditions, the two had a chance to evaluate various settings and new parts for the bike, although the lap times haven’t been disclosed.

Overall, the two BMW riders have racked up 263 laps, the equivalent of 1353 km.

Marco Melandri is currently fourth in the standings with 116 points, 37 less than current leader Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), and there’s no doubt the Italian would have hoped to exploit this two days in Aragon better.
Here’s what he said yesterday at the end of the session:“The bad weather made this test quite difficult.
Yesterday we had several showers, and today it was very windy.
We worked mainly on some new solutions for the set-up of the bike.

We made some improvements and now, I think, we understand better which direction to go with the 17″ tires.

Although, admittedly, we still have a lot of work to do to improve the bike even further and find the perfect balance.
”On his previous visit to the Aragon circuit a couple of months ago, Chaz Davies got himself a fantastic double win for the team, but since then the Welshman never really fought for the podium again and, just like team mate Melandri, he is just partially satisfied with the test:“Yesterday we just tried some basic things and today we were hoping to do a little more, but it was incredibly windy.
We tried to do the best test we could, and in spite of the strong wind we managed to find a couple of solutions that, apparently, will come in handy later on.
In addition, we now have a better understanding of certain details of the bike and of some new parts that we could evaluate.
Overall, it has been a positive test, I was just hoping to find a better weather.
