Play a central role creating inclusive learning experiences for the UK high-performance sport community while working from Loughborough, London or Manchester

The Learning & Development Projects Officer position sits within UK Sport, the organisation that invests National Lottery and Government funds to support Olympic and Paralympic sport. UK Sport’s stated purpose is to lead high-performance sport and enable extraordinary moments that enrich lives, and this role contributes directly to that mission by shaping how people learn and collaborate across the system.
The post is offered on a permanent (full time) basis with a salary of £42,000, and candidates can be based in Loughborough, London or Manchester with regular remote working.
This role will be advertised until the closing date of 19 April 2026, with interviews scheduled on 6 May 2026.
The successful candidate will design and deliver high-quality learning experiences including face-to-face workshops, blended programmes and digital courses. You will manage the full training lifecycle from needs analysis through to design, delivery and evaluation, ensuring that materials are accessible and aligned with organisational standards.
Practical event coordination and content capture for reuse are also core parts of the role.
What the role will deliver
At the heart of the role is the creation of practical, engaging learning solutions that help coaches, practitioners and support staff improve performance. You will collaborate with subject matter experts and external facilitators to translate ideas into structured programmes and digital modules, using tools such as LMS platforms, virtual classroom software and content-capture technologies. Working on events means you will coordinate logistics, support operations on the day and capture learning outputs for wider reuse, making sure each experience is inclusive and accessible. The role expects comfort with technology and innovation, including creative uses of GenAI to prototype learning content responsibly.
Delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement
Delivery is only one step in the cycle; you will also be responsible for robust evaluation so that learning activities produce measurable impact. That involves designing feedback mechanisms, analyzing learner data and iterating on programmes to improve outcomes. You will employ a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods and work closely with internal teams to align evaluations with broader organisational objectives. The emphasis on evaluation ensures that investments in learning demonstrate value to the sports and partners we support, reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement across the high-performance system.
Who you will work with
You will be embedded in a collaborative team, partnering closely with the Senior Learning Designer, the L&D Events Advisor, external facilitators and contributors across the high-performance community. This cross-functional cooperation helps deliver seamless events and coherent learning journeys. The role requires someone comfortable liaising with a broad range of stakeholders, from sport leads to technical experts, and who can translate specialist content into learner-centred experiences. Strong communication and organisation skills are essential to keep complex programmes on track while maintaining high standards.
Skills and attributes we value
We are looking for a candidate who enjoys turning ideas into practical learning and who has experience designing or supporting L&D activities across digital and in-person formats. You should be adept at managing multiple projects with calmness and clarity, and able to use a variety of digital tools, including LMS systems and content-capture technologies. A commitment to creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences is non-negotiable, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts. Experience using modern techniques like GenAI for content design is advantageous but must be applied ethically and thoughtfully.
