Jaguar’s new Type 01 brings a hyper‑powerful electric GT to market with record‑breaking performance and cutting‑edge design.

In December 2024 Jaguar unveiled the Type 00 concept, an avant-garde electric grand tourer that ignited sharp debate among enthusiasts and critics alike. Fast forward two years, the British marque staged a high-profile reveal of the production-ready Type 01 in New York, confirming that the contentious design has survived the leap from studio model to road-legal machine.
Managing director Rawdon Glover led the presentation, asserting that the car captures the brand’s ambition to re-establish itself as a cultural icon in the electric era.
Exterior styling and lighting architecture
The Type 01 inherits the elongated silhouette of its prototype, with a low-slung roofline, a long bonnet and a dramatically short rear overhang that together form a sleek, aerodynamic profile.
At the front, Jaguar equipped the vehicle with its thinnest headlights ever, each integrating 17,000 pixels to deliver razor-sharp illumination while reinforcing a futuristic aesthetic. Standard equipment includes massive 23-inch wheels yet a 21-inch option is available for customers who prioritize ride comfort over visual aggression.
Brass accents are scattered across the bodywork, injecting an old-school British feel into an otherwise high-tech design language.
Electric drivetrain and performance credentials
Beneath the sculpted skin lies a brand-new platform centred around a 118 kWh lithium-ion battery. Jaguar claims the pack can deliver up to 450 miles of real-world range situating the Type 01 among the longest-range luxury EVs currently available. Power output peaks at an astonishing 1,016 bhp and 1,365 Nm of torque catapulting the car from 0 to 60 mph in roughly three seconds. These figures make the Type 01 the most powerful Jaguar ever produced, marrying hyper-car acceleration with the everyday practicality of a four-seat grand tourer.
Cabin technology and interior layout
The interior is organized around a singular “spine” that runs the length of the cabin, structuring the space for driver and passengers alike. Directly ahead of the wheel-owner sits a 24-inch OLED screen that presents all essential driving data, while a secondary seven-inch display positioned between the front seats offers auxiliary controls and infotainment functions. Audio is handled by a wrap-around “Panoramic Soundbar” complemented by speakers embedded in the seats, delivering an immersive sound field. Brass trim elements are deliberately placed to bestow an old-school elegance and the entire vehicle is designed, engineered and built in the United Kingdom, underscoring Jaguar’s commitment to domestic manufacturing.
Brand vision and future outlook
Addressing the crowd, Rawdon Glover declared that the Type 01 “distils the essence of Jaguar into a car for a new era” and emphasized that “Jaguars should be objects of desire and culturally relevant – that’s their natural habitat and where Jaguar is returning.” He positioned the model as the cornerstone of the brand’s 21st-century reinvention, promising no compromise between design ambition and engineering excellence. While a final price has yet to be published, Jaguar indicated that further details will emerge in the coming weeks, hinting at a potential shift in the luxury electric market.
