Inverness celebrates the festive season with Christmas lights switch-on

A vibrant gathering marks the start of the holiday season in Inverness.

In a dazzling display of community spirit, hundreds of locals and visitors gathered in Falcon Square today for the much-anticipated Inverness Christmas lights switch-on. This annual tradition marks the official beginning of the festive season in the Highland capital, drawing crowds eager to partake in the celebrations.

Festive atmosphere and entertainment

Attendees arrived dressed in their most festive attire, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with holiday cheer. The event kicked off with a 30-minute entertainment program that captivated the audience. Among the highlights was a stunning performance by Ness Factor winner Kay-Lisa Davidson, who brought her unique flair to the stage, enchanting both young and old alike.

Santa’s grand entrance

As the clock struck the hour, the excitement reached a fever pitch. The moment everyone had been waiting for arrived when Santa Claus made a grand entrance to light up the beautiful Highland Hospice tree. The sight of the twinkling lights brought gasps of delight from the crowd, symbolizing the start of the holiday festivities.

In addition to the tree lighting, the charity also illuminated all Christmas lights across the city center, transforming Inverness into a winter wonderland.
