The East Aberdeenshire District of Young Farmers’ Annual Christmas Tractor Run transformed the rural landscape into a vibrant spectacle this year. Farmers from across the region showcased their creativity and festive spirit by decorating their tractors, creating a dazzling parade that captivated onlookers.

This beloved tradition not only celebrates the holiday season but also serves a noble cause, as funds raised during the event are directed towards supporting the Aberdeenshire charity, Friends of Anchor.

Community spirit and charitable giving

As the tractors lined up at the Gray and Adams car park in Fraserburgh for registration, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement.

The event kicked off at 4 PM, with participants embarking on a scenic route that included stops in Strichen, Maud, New Deer, and Cumniestown. The parade culminated at Turriff United Football Ground around 6 PM, where the community gathered to celebrate the farmers’ efforts.

In appreciation of their hard work and dedication, the farmers were treated to a complimentary fish supper, fostering a sense of camaraderie and gratitude among participants.

A visual feast for the community

Photographer Kenny Elrick was on hand to capture the festive action, documenting the colorful display of tractors adorned with lights, ribbons, and holiday decorations. The images reflect not only the creativity of the farmers but also the joy and unity of the community coming together for a common purpose. This event serves as a reminder of the importance of local traditions and the impact they have on fostering community spirit.

Supporting local charities through festive events

The funds raised from the Christmas Tractor Run play a crucial role in supporting the initiatives of Friends of Anchor, a charity dedicated to providing care and support for cancer patients and their families in Aberdeenshire. Events like this not only bring joy and festive cheer but also highlight the generosity of the farming community, who are always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. As the tractors paraded through the streets, they carried with them a message of hope and solidarity, reminding everyone of the power of community support.
