King Street experiences significant traffic congestion as roadworks continue.

Ongoing roadworks causing significant delays
Aberdeen drivers are currently facing considerable disruptions as Scottish Water undertakes essential works on King Street. The traffic flow has been reduced to a single lane heading southbound from the Seaton roundabout, leading to frustrating delays for motorists.
Reports indicate that drivers approaching the roundabout from various directions experienced standstill conditions this morning, with some travelers into the city center reporting delays exceeding ten minutes.
Impact on local traffic
One frustrated driver expressed their concerns, stating, “It’s causing more disruption on top of last week’s roadworks; the same area is blocked again.
There are bottlenecks all the way up to the roundabout.” This sentiment reflects the growing frustration among local residents and commuters who rely on this busy route. The latest phase of roadworks began at 9 AM on Monday and is anticipated to conclude by 6 AM tomorrow, but the impact on traffic is already being felt.
Temporary measures and previous disruptions
In addition to the lane restrictions, temporary traffic lights have been installed to facilitate pedestrian crossings, further complicating the traffic situation. This is not the first time King Street has faced such disruptions; earlier in April, the road was blocked from the Seaton roundabout to Seaton Drive for maintenance works, which also caused significant delays. A diversion was implemented via St Machar Drive, Tillydrone Avenue, Gordons Mills Road, The Parkway, and Ellon Road, with the works scheduled to be completed by 5 PM on April 25. The ongoing nature of these disruptions raises questions about the planning and execution of roadworks in the area.
