Inspired by family and competition
Speaking to The Press and Journal, Graeme shared that his motivation to join The 1% Club stemmed from playing along with his son at home. “I’m always keeping my eyes open on social media for these types of opportunities,” he explained. “When this came up, I just went for it.” His son, who has the quiz app downloaded on his phone, has proven to be quite adept at the game, further fueling Graeme’s desire to participate.
The thrill of the studio experience
Graeme’s experience in the studio was a stark contrast to watching the show from home. “It feels completely different in the studio,” he remarked. “The questions come at you really quickly, and just 30 seconds to answer a tricky one is not a lot of time at all.” He described the initial warm-up act that energizes contestants before the main event, where comedian Lee Mack introduces the questions. Despite the pressure, Graeme managed to hold his own, stating, “I didn’t go out on the first question, but I almost did!”
