Mark Cochrane's Vigilant Chauffeur Services acquired by Little's Chauffeur Drive.

Topics covered
In an inspiring tale of resilience and adaptability, former Aberdeen police officer Mark Cochrane has successfully transitioned from law enforcement to the luxury chauffeur industry. His company, Vigilant Chauffeur Services (VChauffeur), which he launched in February 2020, has recently been acquired by the esteemed chauffeur brand Little’s.
This acquisition marks a significant milestone in Cochrane’s journey, showcasing how a challenging start can lead to remarkable success.
From police officer to entrepreneur
Mark Cochrane dedicated decades of his life to the police force before deciding to embark on a new venture.
Just one month after launching VChauffeur, the world was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, presenting unprecedented challenges for new businesses. However, instead of succumbing to the pressures of the pandemic, Cochrane pivoted his business model to meet the urgent needs of the oil and gas sector, providing essential transport services for offshore workers during lockdowns.
“I flipped the model overnight,” Cochrane recalls. This quick adaptation not only kept his business afloat but also laid the groundwork for future success. As restrictions began to ease, he shifted his focus back to high-end tourism, catering to a clientele that included foreign royals, corporate executives, and government officials.
Building a reputable brand
With a background in law enforcement, Cochrane instilled a sense of trust and professionalism in his services. His team, primarily composed of retired police officers, was handpicked for their discretion and reliability. “Being discreet definitely paid off,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of confidentiality in the luxury transport sector.
VChauffeur quickly gained a reputation for excellence, offering services that ranged from private jet transfers to exclusive golf tours and whisky distillery visits. The company’s impressive client list caught the attention of Little’s Chauffeur Drive, a well-established luxury transport provider in Scotland, leading to the recent acquisition.
A new chapter with Little’s Chauffeur Drive
The acquisition of VChauffeur by Little’s marks an exciting new chapter for both companies. Heather Matthews, managing director of Little’s, expressed enthusiasm about expanding their reach into the vibrant north-east of Scotland. “Our aim is to invest locally, create new opportunities for employment, and ensure that Little’s standards of care and professionalism are delivered by people who know and love this region,” she stated.
For Cochrane, the acquisition signifies a well-deserved break after years of dedication. “I’ve basically been on call every day for four-and-a-half years,” he shared. With the transition underway, he looks forward to traveling and enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle while still assisting with the handover process.
Reflecting on his journey, Cochrane expressed pride in showcasing Scotland to international visitors. “It gives you a sense of pride, especially when you hear people talking so positively about your country,” he remarked. This experience has not only enriched his life but has also deepened his appreciation for the beauty and culture of Scotland.
