Whisky Situation: A new bar venture in Aberdeen’s whisky scene
A globetrotting businessman, Carlos Yabrudy, is set to make waves in Aberdeen’s vibrant bar scene with the launch of his new establishment, Whisky Situation. This exciting venture comes in response to the closure of the former CASC Bar, which had been a staple in the community since 2013.

Yabrudy, who founded Whisky Situation in 2023, aims to create a unique space that celebrates whisky culture while offering a diverse selection of drinks.

From frustration to opportunity

Yabrudy’s journey began with a sense of frustration over the high prices of older whiskies.

His passion for whisky and desire to make it more accessible led him to seize the opportunity presented by the closure of CASC Bar. “When I heard about CASC Bar closing, I thought, ‘What better thing could we have than our own bar?'” he shared in an exclusive interview. This sentiment reflects his commitment to not only providing a place for whisky enthusiasts but also contributing to the local industry.

A focus on experience and variety

Whisky Situation is set to open its doors on May 9, operating seven days a week from 3 PM to midnight, with extended hours on weekends. Yabrudy envisions a bar that offers a constantly changing selection of whiskies, ensuring that every visit is a new experience. “We will have whisky that people have heard of but never tried, and others that will be totally new to them,” he explained. This approach aims to attract both locals and tourists, making it a must-visit destination in Aberdeen.

Building a dedicated team

To bring his vision to life, Yabrudy has already employed five new team members, emphasizing that working at Whisky Situation is more than just a job; it’s a career. Employees will have opportunities to visit distilleries and expand their knowledge of whisky, fostering a culture of growth and expertise within the team. Yabrudy’s commitment to staff development is evident, as he believes that a knowledgeable team will enhance the customer experience.

Expanding the whisky experience

In addition to the bar, Whisky Situation will take over the adjacent shop, offering over 700 types of cigars alongside an extensive whisky selection. This expansion aims to create a comprehensive whisky experience for customers, allowing them to explore various products in one location. Yabrudy’s collaboration with local businesses, such as the Aberdeen Whisky shop, further strengthens the community aspect of this venture.

A commitment to the whisky community

Yabrudy’s passion for whisky extends beyond just selling drinks; he aims to be an integral part of the whisky community in Aberdeen. By taking over the Whisky Mash festival, he hopes to engage with whisky lovers and promote the culture surrounding this beloved spirit. “Whisky Situation Aberdeen is going to be a bar that is for the people in Aberdeen and for people from around the world,” he stated, highlighting his dedication to creating an inclusive atmosphere.

As Whisky Situation prepares to open, the anticipation builds for what promises to be a vibrant addition to Aberdeen’s bar scene. With a focus on quality, variety, and community engagement, Carlos Yabrudy’s venture is poised to make a significant impact on the local whisky culture.
