Strange Phenomena Around the World: The green roofs of Rome

A year ago we showed you the first pictures of the green roofs of Rome; tussocks of grass which have over the months turned into meadows; ok I’m partly joking, but this rather singular phenomenon is quite real and seems unstoppable ! It reminds one of the hanging gardens of Babylon or Ireland’s thatch roofs, though, to be frank, this new phenomenon caused by airborne dust, heavy rains and gulls, seems to be jeopardising the stability of the oldest roofs.

And I also wonder what tourists will think when looking at Rome from the Vittoriano they will see those green roofs which look like rolling hills?Erba alta fra le tegole romane
