Tuscan cooking and restaurants: wild boar at the Antica Osteria Agania in Arezzo

While wild boar is not perhaps Italian summer fare, it is definitely a traditional Tuscan dish which is being celebrated in Arezzo with an event called “The boar in history: archaeology and myth”.
The event is organised by Castiglion Fiorentino town in Arezzo and celebrates the age-long culinary tradition of the wild boar in this area.

In ancient times, the boar represented the idea of death; and hunting and killing boars meant challenging death.
These days the significance of eating boar is one purely of Italian culinary and cultural tradition, and if you’re in the area of Arezzo and want to try this traditional Italian dish, look out for the L’Osteria Agania.

It’s a Tuscan restaurant with an informal atmosphere that will give you some of the best wild boar dishes around.
