The Museo degli Orsanti at Compiano, Parma

Not far from Parma there’s a small medieval village called Compiano; actually it’s just a hamlet but its beauty, trust me will take your breath away.
Nestled on the mountains, Compiano was inhabited by poor peasants who were often compelled to leave their homes behind and seek their fortune elsewhere.

Many of them turned into musicians, jugglers and buskers ending up more often than not in circuses and fairs.
They were known as Orsanti (a local term).
Orsanti is also the name of the local museum which was established to commemorate the legacy of these artists perpetually moving from one place to another year in year out.

After visiting the museum you can also make a tour of the castle and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Taro river flowing through the awe-inspiring Apennine mountains.
