Exploring Sardinia by train: Gallura tours

Admiring the north coast of Sardinia by train means you can enjoy the landscape of oak forests, vermentino vineyards and fields go past while relaxing without the vagaries of Italian coastal roads.
Edera Turismo organises excursions by train around the Gallura area (also famous for Italy’s DOCG Vermentino di Gallura white wine) which takes in both landscape and culinary tours starting at 62 euros a person.

Tours run from June 1st through September 30th and include a panoramic stop on the Liscia lake with cheese, bread and wine as a break.
The excursion then reaches Luras, with a bus transfer to visit the archaeological sites of the Pausania Temple.

The tour continues to Pulchiana mountain, the largest granite monolith in Sardinia, with views over “la Valle della Luna” or “Moon Valley”.
On return, a picnic in the woods or lunch in a farm stay is included with tastings of salami, cheese, Gallura soup, mutton and potatoes, grilled meat and nougat (traditional sweet in Sardinia and famous around Italy).
In the afternoon, a stop at the town of Aggius is on the itinerary for a look and the mountains and oak forests that surround one of Sardinia’s most beautiful towns.

A glass of myrtle concludes the tour.
