Lecce's Roman Amphitheatre

Lecce ‘s amphitheatre, one of the great masterpieces of ancient times, was mentioned in several old manuscripts , but no one seemed to know its exact location.
It was accidentally unearthed by a group of bricklayers who were building a new palazzo in piazza di Sant’Oronzo.

Sometimes history sleeps quietly in the dark, only waiting to be brought back to life.
