While presenting a speech to business leaders at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) conference on Monday, Boris Johnson lost his place. He also mimicked a car’s engine sound. Then asked the audience whether they have been to Peppa Pig World.

The UK Prime Minister‘s purpose in the speech was to command on his “levelling-up” agenda. It was a “moral mission” as well as a significant move for the economy.

But half of the speech, Mr Johnson paused to flip the sheets of paper on his podium. The next thing that happened was he asked for forgiveness from his audience as they waited for him to remain.

The Labour Party declared in a reply to the speech, “The joke’s not odd anymore.” Johnson later protected his speech. “I think people got the wide majority of the point I wanted to do. I thought it went over well.”

Then people on Twitter responded to Boris Johnson’s speech. One of them tweeted, “Not enough. I was a bit dark [about] what I would find at Peppa Pig World but I loved it. Peppa Pig World is very much my kind of place.”

Meanwhile, a Peppa Pig World spokesperson did later reply: “We were pleased the prime minister dedicated so much of his speech to us.”
