London has been hit with 140,000 confirmed Covid cases in a week after they exploded by up to 500 percent among young adults and also increased among pensioners, an Evening Standard analysis reveals.

140,942 confirmed Covid cases were published in London during the week leading up to December 19.

This is more than three times the 42,455 cases in the first week of this month due to Omicron’s surge in the city. The actual number of infections is estimated to be significantly higher.

Seven-day rates for Londoners aged 20 to 24 during this period increased by 455% to 1,846. For people aged 30-34, it has skyrocketed from 321% to 1,760.
