Europe to debate 100 hp limit motorcycles

The EC is to spend summer debating whether to adopt the 100 hp motorcycle limit already mooted last year.
France is currently the only European country with the limit in place, and the European Community will consider whether to adopt this kind of law across the territory.

With no real evidence to suggest that high horse power levels can be directly linked to the likelihood of having an accident, the development is likely to cause concern among many motorcyclists.

The EC is continuing its examination of motorcycle safety, though, also in the form of ABS.

This technology could be mandatory for all new models to be sold in Europe, meaning manufacturers will have to scramble to equip all their models with ABS if they want to sell them in this market.
We had already reported on the 100 hp issue back in May last year, and it seems to be raising its head again as we come into motorcycle season.
Who knows if an outcome will be produced or if superbike models will be let off the hook for another year?
