Bernhard Gobmeier spent practically his entire career in the service of BMW.

Subsequently he held a series of managerial roles in the monaco group until becoming director of development of BMW chassis motorcycle in 2008.

In 2011 he became the new director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport. He was called to replace the one who held the position in the 2009 and 2010 seasons, Berthold Hauser. Gobmeier, almost thirty years at the service of the famous German company, was the head of the branch of the company devoted to research, development and design of the BMW M line, obtaining countless international awards thanks to the super sports cars created in Munich.

Gobmeier’s career in Ducati

The experience of the German manager in Ducati started in 2012. Italians were very shocked when was elected Ducati Corse general manager, as everyone was convinced that the place would go to Filippo Preziosi. The BMW’s former World Superbike Director Bernhard Gobmeier was elected to take over the Corse department.

After the appointment, Ducati issued a press released, in which the brand announced that Bernhard Gobmeier was the new General Manager of Ducati Corse. They said: “Utilising his significant experience in the world of motorsport, including more recently his role as Superbike Director with BMW, the position will draw upon the 53-year-old German’s extensive managerial experience ready to enter the new phase of development for Ducati’s racing activities and to achieve the targets set during the recent acquisition by the Audi Group.” They also clarified his duties better: “Gobmeier will report directly to the CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, Gabriele Del Torchio, and count upon the experience and professional support of Filippo Preziosi.”
