Florence Art exhibitions: Flemish Painters on exhibition at Palazzo Pitti

If you love Flemish Art, Florence is probably the place to be: from 20th June to 26th October Palazzo Pitti will host an amazing exhibition called Firenze e gli antichi Paesi Passi.
Dialoghi artisitci 1430-1530 (Florence and the Flanders: an artistic dialogue) entirely dedicated to the works of those Flemish artists who lived in Florence from 1430 to 1530.

The exhibition will feature great paintings and really big names, from Jan Van Eyck to Luca di Leida.
It was Jan Van Eyck himself that introduced for the first time in Art History the use of oil in painting.
The new technique spread rather quickly in Florence; becoming a favourite with many great artists.

Florentine families had strong bonds with these painters coming from afar.
In fact we must remember that trade between Florence and The Flanders was rather florid, bringing in a lot of money each year and this somehow helped to create this artistic sodality.
