Travelling Venice: kit with map to the city's water fountains

Italy is going through a heat wave at the moment, but if you’re tourist in Venice at the moment, you needn’t worry about fresh water to drink.
A wonderful thing about travelling in Italy is the various drinking fountains around that provide fresh (free!) drinking water.

The local council in Venice has released a tourist kit comprised of an empty bottle of water and a map of the 122 fountains around the city.

The initiative is called “100×100 pubblica” and was launched in occasion of World Environment Day as a form of protest against how much bottled water costs.

Italy is number one consumer in the world of bottled water and the cost weighs heavily on many families’ budgets.
“Public” water will cost the citizen about 0.
09 cents a litre, compared to the 26 cents for industrial water.
The drinking quality of the water has been certified by Veritas.
with results printed on the bottles.
