International Furniture Show Closes in Milan

Milan’s international furniture show, the “Salone del Mobile” has just closed at the exhibition hall in the city.
We’ll be bringing you some of the more interesting features from the show over the next few days.
We had already touched on the program in our post on Illy coffee, and after passing by last week from the airport, there were certainly a lot of people milling about for what appeared to be a truly international event.

The exhibition space is something to see itself, and the furniture show included 220,000 square metres of exhibition.
With an appearance from the English artist Peter Greenaway, the show featured over 1,800 exhibitors (including over 70 international exhibitors) and while current figures are not available, in 2007 the show hosted 270,824 visitors, over half of whom were from overseas.

With everything from furniture to bathrooms, kitchens to offices, the exhibition showed off some very smart and exclusive design.
Watch this space for further details.
