The best supermarket Black Friday 2020 deals

Online retailers are set for one of the busiest weekends on record as Black Friday takes place, with supermarkets also discounting goods.

Online retailers are set for one of the busiest weekends on record as Black Friday takes place, with supermarkets also discounting goods.

Best Supermarket Black Friday Deals

Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi amongst others have launched their Black Friday deals with offers available on a wide variety of items.

Sainsbury’s clothing brand TU are offering deals and Tesco have discounts on the Nintendo Switch, new Fifa 2021 and smart televisions.

One thing to be aware of is fake deals on Black Friday though. A report by Which? revealed nine in 10 Black Friday discounts last year were cheaper earlier in the year.

The investigation tracked 219 popular home and tech products from Amazon, AO.com, Argos, Curry’s PC World and John Lewis and found only 3 items were at their cheapest on Black Friday.

Which? advised consumers to “do some research” beforehand to avoid fraudulent deals. Natalie Hitchins, at Which?, said: “Deals that look too good to be true often are, so don’t fall for time-limited offers and if you are looking for something in particular, do some research first. That way you’ll know a genuine bargain when you see one.”

Martin Lewis aka The Money saving Expert had this to say:

If you’re looking to buy a video game that costs £50, and it’s reduced to £25 on Black Friday, then yes, it’s a good deal as you’ll save £25. But, if you’re tempted to buy it just because it’s on offer, then you’ve fallen into a trap. Make a list of what you want, stick to it, and then find the cheapest places to buy it on Friday. Don’t get them target your spending impulses.
