As we all well know there has been many rumors around the AstraZenaca vaccine “Vaxzervia”. There is a new controversia about the vaccine. Part of the doses were produced in India and 5 millions of British vere vaccines with the Indian-made type of AstraZeneca vaccine. Therefore, all of the AstraZeneca vaccines which were produced in India are now not recognized by EMA. As a consequence, British people all risk to be banned by Europe for holidays.
A version of the AstraZeneca jab produced by Covishield at the Serum Institute of India (SII) is currently not recognized by The European Medicines Agency (EMA). There have been no proof that this is less effective than other jabs. Therefore, it is no clear why this one may not be recognized.
The Green Pass – or also known EU digital covid certificate – is active since Thursday. It enables those fully vaccinated to travel safely without any quarantine obligations.
However it doesn’t accept all types of vaccines, but just some – which represent the majority. Indeed, it only accepts vaccines currently approved by the EMA, which are: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine made in Europe. So as we can see, the Russian vaccine isn’t recognized either.
Britains can check what jab they received by looking at their batch number. You can find the number on the vaccination record card which is the paper released after your were given your jab. According to Telegraph the Covishield jab will have the numbers 4120Z001, 4120Z002 or 4120Z003.
We still do not know how many jabs of the AstraZeneca vaccine produced in India have been distributed in England, not knowing therefore how many risk not being recognized.
They assure that this is just an administrative hurdle. Therefore, that there are no adverse effects for those who received the Indian jabs.
For know Britains are only at risk of not being able to travel to Europe during their summer holidays.
