Extreme heat warning expanded across Wales

The Met Office has extended its amber extreme heat warning to cover much of Wales, as forecasters predict record-breaking temperatures next week. The warning, currently in effect for Monday and Tuesday, anticipates temperatures climbing to 35°C by Tuesday and Wednesday.

There is growing confidence that the UK’s June temperature record of 35.6°Cset in Southampton in 1976, could be surpassed.

The amber warning includes areas such as Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Torfaen, and the Vale of Glamorgan. Residents are advised to take precautions and stay hydrated as the heatwave intensifies.

Tragic motorbike crash claims young life

A deeply tragic incident has left the community of Haverfordwest in mourning. Callum Hanson, a 22-year-old described as a deeply caring personpassed away on Wednesday, June 17, following a collision on the A4075 near Cross Hands, Pembrokeshire. Callum’s family has released a heartfelt statement, remembering him as a kind and loving individual who lived his life to the fullest despite personal challenges.

Callum was passionate about gaming and motorbikes and was training to become a mechanic. His family requests privacy during this difficult time. Dyfed-Powys Police continue to appeal for witnesses who were on the A4075 between Canaston Bridge and Yerbeston around 6:15 pm on the day of the incident.

A group of travelers who illegally set up camp on Litchard Playing Fields in Bridgend has left the site, according to the council.
