The BMW 5 Series, a staple in the luxury sedan market, is gearing up for a significant facelift in 2028. While the G60 sedan and G61 Touring models will skip the full Neue Klasse grille seen in BMW’s standalone electric sedans, they will still receive a comprehensive interior overhaul.
Production is slated to begin around July 2027, with potential battery upgrades linked to Rimac.
This facelift, often referred to as a Life Cycle Impulse promises to strike a balance between maintaining the familiar and introducing innovative features. While the exterior design changes are subtle, the interior is set for a complete transformation, incorporating elements from the iX3 and other recent BMW models.
The Exterior: Subtle Yet Significant Changes
Early prototypes of the G60 LCI hinted at a more radical design shift, but recent insights suggest a more conservative approach. The kidney grilles a signature BMW feature, are expected to remain largely unchanged, though there might be a slight reduction in size.
The rear bumper will receive a subtle reshape, and the taillight graphics will be updated, serving as the LCI’s most noticeable visual signature.

However, the full Neue Klasse look which integrates the horizontal kidneys directly into the headlights, will not be adopted for these models.
