While these improvements contribute to a weight reduction of 97 pounds, the cupholders were notably removed in the process. In tests conducted by Car and Driver the 2026 model achieved a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 11.3 seconds at 128 mph. It also exhibited lateral cornering on the skidpad at 1.05g and braking from 70 mph to zero in 155 feet.
On April 11, 2026, the BMW M2 CS set an official lap time of 7:25.534 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, making it the fastest compact car to ever lap the famed track. This record remains unbroken as of today.
